ASUS Malaysia in January 22 press event has announced the launch of its affordable 7-inch tablet with attractive price tag. Called the ASUS MeMO Pad, the tablet is available since the end of January at retail price of RM 499. As for the specs sheet, MeMO Pad is a 7-inch (1024 x 600 resolution) LED-lit tablet, running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and is powered by a 1GHz processor with 8GB or 16 GB internal storage and 1GB of RAM.
Now, the tablet has a new sibling – a larger form-factor of the MeMO Pad at 10-inch. In fact, ASUS has officially unveiled the 10-inch tablet – under the name of ASUS MeMO Pad Smart at Thailand Mobile Expo a few days back.
The tablet sports a 1.2GHz quad-core Tegra 3 processor, a 10.1-inch WXGA screen (1280 x 800 resolution), 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card), 1GB of RAM, a 5MP rear camera, 1.2MP front-facing camera. MeMO Pad Smart runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
As of today, the tablet is only available in Thailand at a price tag of around $360 (approx. RM 1100), with three choices of colour. However, we can expect the tablet to make appearance in Mobile World Congress 2013 (MWC 2013) and most probably by then ASUS will announce the availability of the tablet for other markets.
