ASUS Malaysia has just teased the MeMO Pad 8 as coming soon on its official Facebook page. The 8-inch tablet was first unveiled, together with MeMO Pad 10 early last September at IFA 2013 in Berlin.
There’s no detail regarding the exact availability and pricing yet. The budget friendly tablet could be priced at RM 799 if we are to refer to the pricing in Taiwan of NT$ 7,990. However, we have strong feeling that the tablet might be priced higher here, either RM 849 or RM 899. As for availability, the tablet could make appearance here shortly after the sale of Fonepad Note FHD 6, which is expected to hit stores in mid this month for RM 1,399.
To recap, ASUS MeMO Pad 8 (ME180A) features an 8-inch LED-backlit WXGA display with 1280 x 800 resolution. It is powered by a 1.6GHz quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. There’s a micoSD card slot for additional storage plus free 16GB worth of one year ASUS Webstorage Space. It is measures just 127mm from side to side with thickness of 9.95mm and weighs only 350g.
The tablet features a 5MP rear camera, a 1.2MP front-facing camera, WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, a microUSB slot, Android 4.2 and dual-speakers with ASUS SonicMaster audio technology. The battery can lasts MeMO Pad 8 up to 9 hours.
