In Google’s press event in San Francisco several hours ago, the search engine giant has announced the latest Android OS update of version 4.3 alongside with the new Nexus 7 tablet. The tablet is first device to run Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out-of-the-box.
Google introduces restricted profiles in Android 4.3. It’s a feature that lets you limit access to apps and content. The feature is deem useful to parents to control what content their kids can view and you can choose to block in-app purchasing too. Android 4.3 also now supports Bluetooth Smart technology, enabling mobile apps that connect to new devices like fitness sensors. Other features include OpenGL ES 3.0, DRM APIs, easier text input, faster user-switching, dial pad autocomplete and more. More details here.
For owners of older Nexus devices, Google is making the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update available to those devices starting today. The update is delivered over-the-air (OTA) to devices including original Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 tablets, as well as Nexus 4 and Galaxy Nexus smartphones.
The Google Play editions of the Galaxy S4 and the HTC One will get the update sometime later. No detail for other Android devices though.
