Microsoft is reported going to refresh its Surface RT tablet this year. The second generation Surface RT will feature a new Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and runs Windows 8.1.
According to Bloomberg in a news article, it reported that some new versions of Surface will be based on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 processors. The Snapdragon 800 processor can deliver fast wireless data connections thanks to its LTE connectivity and it also support Microsoft’s upcoming Windows 8.1 operating system. The preview edition of Windows 8.1 is coming this month at the BUILD developer conference.
On Surface RT 2, the new Windows 8.1 will provide the new tablet with features such as Outlook email, interface enhancements and an updated Internet Explorer web browser.
In addition to Snapdragon 800-powered Surface RT 2, Microsoft may have another version of the Surface RT 2 tablet in the pipeline. A version that will feature an Nvidia processor.
