As reported earlier, consumers in Malaysia will most probably get their hands on iPhone 4s this coming December 16. Now, we’re hearing that Apple will launch the iPhone 4S in Taiwan as well. DigiTimes reported that the iPhone 4S will land in the island some time between 14 – 16 December.
The three largest mobile carriers in Taiwan, Chunghwa Telecom (CHT), Taiwan Mobile (TWM) and Far EasTone Telecommunications (FET) will jointly launch the iPhone 4S in the Taiwan market.
Here’s the (unconfirmed) details on the iPhone 4S shipment.
The initial shipments of iPhone 4S to Taiwan will be smaller than 30,000 units, with 50% to be allocated to CHT and 25% to TWM and FET each, the sources noted. Most of iPhone 4S models will be of 16GB and 32GB versions, with the 64GB model expected to account for less than 5% of the initial volume available for sale.
The reports also pointed out that the owners of older iPhone smartphone – iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS will be the main target buyers of iPhone 4S as they are looking for replacement to their older version iPhone. However, the sales volume of iPhone 4S may not very encouraging (compared to iPhone 4) as many potential buyers are wiling to wait for the revamped iPhone 5 expected to be launched in mid-2012.
