Meet the new iPad!
Apple today has officially unveiled the updated version of the iPad tablet in a media event at San Francisco. In the event, Tim Cook simply called the tablet as “the new iPad“, this time without any suffix. So people, we don’t call the new tablet an iPad 3 or iPad HD, but just call it an iPad.
Now, let’s take a look at some high-spec features that Apple has brought into iPad. First and foremost, the new iPad is now packed with a Retina Display, which features a 2048 x 1536 resolution, 44 percent greater colour saturation, 264 pixels per inch (ppi) and 3.1 million pixels on its 9.7-inch screen. FYI, that’s 4 times the number of pixels in iPad 2 and a million more than an HDTV!
Moreover, the new iPad features an A5X processor and quad-core graphics chip, designed for Retina Display. And Apple even claims its newest processor can deliver 4 times the performance of a Tegra 3.
In addition, the iPad also offers a high speed 4G LTE network connection, with speeds up to ten times faster than the 3G technology allows. Anyway, you can just forget about this feature if the 4G network is not yet available in your area or country. As for the battery life, despite uses a Retina display and quad-core graphics (that drains more battery juice than iPad 2), you still get up to 10 hours of power.
In the camera department, the new iPad features a new 5-megapixel iSight camera with a backside illuminated CMOS sensor for better low-light performance, five-element f/2.4 autofocus lens with IR filter and capable of recording 1080p video. Apple’s built the ISP (Image Signal Processor) right into the new A5X chip, enabling features like face detection and image stabilization — just like the iPhone 4S.
