Watch Movies on Your Windows with Microsoft Paint

No bullshit, no kidding! The simple image editor, Microsoft Paint, can be used to watch movies and videos on your Windows! Read on if you want to learn this geek trick.
First, open and play any movie or video with any video player e.g. Windows Media Player, VLC Player, GOM Player etc. After the movie starts playing, take a screenshot of the player by pressing the Alt+Print Screen button on your keyboard. Do not pause/stop the movie or close the video player after taking the screenshot. Open the Microsoft Paint and simply paste (Ctrl+V) the screenshot that you have captured just now on MS Paint.

Now, you will noticed that the movie is playing in the MS Paint! That’s cool!

Note that you still have to keep the movie playing in the video player in order for the movie to play in the MS Paint. If you pause/stop the movie in the video player or close the video player, the movie in the MS Paint will stop playing too.

  1. Hi Steve, great tricks! It works on MS Word too :) Cool~

  2. Dave > LOL! I’m glad you enjoy this “useless” trick! :-)

  3. 4 Years ago when My daughter was in 1st standard (now her age is 10+), I tried to teach her the process of Print Screen and pasting any still screen shot on to the paints and then edit it.
On the very next day I saw her running “Tom and Jerry” animated movie in the paint window…not only that …I was really amazed to see her erasing the legs and other body parts of Tom while the movie is running…Next, she started drawing filled figures and made the movie running in them..At that time I had been using an older version of Superdecoder to watch movies. I didn’t ever think of such process. I asked her that how did she do all those and in reply she casually taught me the process. Fortunately, I understood that she has implemented the “Print Screen…Paste knowledge” on Movies. But, she was innocent about her deeds. Yes …..I learnt the process from her at her age of (6+ only).
