LockImage is freeware Windows application, that protects your images with password. Your images will be converted into password protected executable with embedded viewer, which means that the modified file is now an exe file instead of an image file.

To use LockImage, simply extract LockImage.exe from the zip file that you’ll need to download. Next, run the exe file. Open the image that you want to protect and click “Save As”. You will be prompted to set a password for the file. Once completed, you will noticed a newly created exe file. The exe file can be open in any computer without the LockImage around, provided you have enter the correct password.

nice find , thanks for sharing it .

I’m just having one concern about it .

image files extensions is the only thing that is free from viruses attacks ,
if i changed all the images i have into .exe I’ll be screwed if my anti-virus was broken :)

I don’t really see a need to lock up a few pictures here and there though. -_-

So basically it converts image files into exe files?

Blek, I would much prefer to keep my images file as image files. :D

    ameo > Oh, I don’t know that.

Deimos > I see, you must have a huge amount of images that you lock in a place. LOL! Well, there is one usage ( don’t know it’s useful or not ) to convert the image file to a password protected exe file, it’s when you want to share it with a few friends via email or IM but don’t want others to look at it when your friends store it in their computer.

    Hi all
thanks for commenting. I wrote LockImage to encrypt a scanned document that contains sensible data. For weeks I used winzip to compress it with a password protection. The problem was, that i had to remember always to delete the uncompressed file after usage. Since my document was classified high confidential, I thought about writing LockImage. It decrypts the image for viewing into the RAM. No temporary files are created on the hard disk. So once the viewer is closed, no traces are left back.
So this is actually a real world case, where LockImage can help. If you want to encrypt several images or files, I recommend TrueCrypt. It supports real time encryption and decryption.
