Although it is near to impossible to locate your stolen computer, but this handy Windows utility can slightly increase your chances to recover the stolen computer.

Locate PC is a free theft recovery Windows software for your PC that may help you locate stolen computer, it runs automatically and unobtrusively on your computer whenever the computer is started. So the thief may not even know that Locate PC is running. As soon as the thief connect your computer to the internet, a secret email is sent to you containing the details about IP address of the current Internet connection, along with details for the network location, which may help you to track your computer.

In case of the worst happens to your computer, you may want to install Locate PC on your computer. To use Locate PC, you will need to set up your email account so that it works with Locate PC. Have something need to consider,
1.How fast the local ISP and law enforcement action as getting the IP location information ? (you knowlah in Malaysia!!!)

2.Normally we set a password for the computer user, how to connected internet if the thieves don’t know the password ?

Wongsk > That’s why I mention that it is near to impossible to trace any computer once stolen. This tool may slightly increase the possibility to recover the stolen computer, but no guarantee. For the case that we’ve set password to enter windows, this tool will be no use at all, because the thief will tend to first reformat the computer. Anyway, it doesn’t hurt to install this utility. :D

Nice utility, but a bit weird. Haha… but I guess you and I won’t even bother to try it too. :)

  4. yoko

Useful tools. Is it really working? Have you try it before? Thanks for sharing anyway.

Might be useful for lap top / note book PCs. :D

As for the password for logging into Windows, this is a good reason not to set any passwords. :D

For the record, I don’t set passwords for all the PCs / Notebook that I use. ;)

As for ip address tracking, just how well will the local authorities cooperate? -_-

    weird software ,
but it may eb of use on holidays when taking the labtop whereever i go ..

Kitkat > I’ve installed this software on my laptop. :D

yoko > It’s really working. You can choose to get the secret email daily or when the ip address changes. But then it’s troublesome to receive the email on daily basis. Give it a try. :D

Deimos > ya, agree with you. No choice, we are living in Malaysia. There is actually a software to crack the password, I will post it in coming post.

ameo > ya, it’s useful for laptop computer. People tend to steal laptop than PC.

huh i beleive that since they get their hands on it wherever you are (not even in Malaysia) it’s a gonner. also it needs an SMTP account not POP3 (just for the record :) ) nice find!
