I believe that most you have gone through the situations where you have tried to delete, move or rename a file or folder only to receive a dialog box with an error message like “Cannot delete Folder : It is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again.” Deleting files that are locked by running Windows programs can be a pain in the ass.

Boot Deleter is lightweight windows application that integrates itself with Windows Explorer (shell) right-click context menu, allowing you to mark files for deletion the next time Windows restarts. This freeware is an excellent tool to delete files with error messages.

To use Boot Deleter, you need to run the Boot Deleter.exe from the archive file. In the main window of Boot Deleter, you need to click the “Integrate with Windows shell” button to integrate the Boot Deleter with Windows Explorer.

Now, you can select locked files for deletion. There are three ways to mark the files for deletion, you can either using the right-click context menu ( right click the problem file and select Delete on Reboot ) , the command-line interface or drag and drop the files into the Boot Deleter executable icon.

When your system restarts, Boot Deleter will remove them automatically before Windows starts up. Unlocker is another awesome to delete locked files.
