4 Free Software Update Checker that Keep Your Windows Software Up to Date

Just as you are using feed reader to keep you updated with the latest content of your favourite blogs, thus saving your precious time from the need to frequently drop by your favourite blogs just to check for new blog post. The same principle applies when you are updating your installed software on your computer. You certainly don’t have the time to check every single installed software to see if your software’s outdated on the Internet. Therefore, you need these time-saving software update checker to make your life easier. Here I am highlighting 4 such applications that scan your computer for the latest software updates.

1. FileHippo Update Checker

Nice collection of apps Steve! I use the first one frequently to keep my system and app updated all the time.

  2. Aseem Kishore

I use FileHippo and love it. I had used others before, but didn’t like them as much because they didn’t find as many updates as FileHippo.

    nice ,
i didn’t thought to use any , coz EVERY software has it’s built-in update checker and it’s always running .

i think if i use a certain software each day i’ll notice the popup saying that there is update for it :)

yet i’ll see one of these freewares , and what can they do ..

    thanks

I use radarsync for my driver updates. It used to just list the updates and you had to find the download links yourself, but now it gives you the links for free, so i’m happy.

Syahid , Aseem Kishore > Filehippo is nice, but I prefer radarsync cos I can update my windows drivers as well.

ameo > Ya, almost every software has built-in update checker, but not all software I use it frequently. So this software update checker is an essential tool for me. :D

Atin > we are on the same boat! :D

  6. ameo

true .. but if some software you don’t use frequently ..

    why updating it then :D

  7. Steve Yu

ameo > why we want to update the software to its newest version in the first place? One of the reason is to protect our computer from any security vulnerability. Anyway, you have your good reason not to use these software update checker as long as the software is updated somehow.

  8. ameo

true and i can’t agree with you more .

it’s just that i’m an OLD-SCHOOL -[ doesn't mean that i'm old dude :) ]- i don’t do updates unless the current application fails , or i needed something in the next release ,

but if i’m happy with the current old version so why upgrading !

for example ,, i kept using winamp 2.6 till version 5.0 came out :)

  9. Ellie

I use FileHippo. The older, less fancy (yet secure) version has a small size and doesn’t write to my hard drive, so it is perfect for putting on a flash drive and taking with me when I need to update friends’ computers.

There are some programs that get missed by FileHippo, but that is easily remedied by utilizing the manual update in various programs.
