Four Tips for Quick Android Maintenance3 min read

While the sophistication of mobile devices grows steadily, requiring less and less effort on the part of the user to maintain their device, you still need to put in a little bit of extra effort to ensure that your device will perform flawlessly. Usually, the problem is realizing that you need to do a bit of maintenance, rather than any complex mechanical work.

Here are four quick tips on how to make your device work in top condition with practically zero effort on your part.

Four Tips for Quick Android Maintenance

1. Trim the Applications

Applications are the life of an Android device, but chances are you aren’t really using them all. Go through the apps you have installed and weed out the chaff. Each mobile device has limited memory. Removing unused applications allows you to free up space and improve performance. If you don’t want to part with them, consider moving them to the memory card you use. That way you’ll free up space on the built-in memory card, giving your device more resources to work with, but won’t deny yourself the applications you do use often.

2. Shut Off Unnecessary Apps

The second step is also tied to applications. If you are noticing slowdowns on your Android tablet, maybe you have too many active applications. Review active apps and shut down all that you don’t need at the moment. Not only does it improve performance, sometimes quite dramatically, it also conserves battery power. Make it a habit and you’ll see your Android device suddenly performs much faster and becomes much more responsive.

3. Grab a Cache Cleaning App

Even if you try really hard, reaching all the nooks and crannies on an Android device can be hard. Instead of trying to do it manually, download a cache cleaning application. There are plenty of different applications on the market that offer this functionality. The top two are the Android System Cleaner and the Smart Cleaner, both of which allow for a very in-depth removal of leftover or otherwise unused files. Think of it as common sense. Desktop computers get cluttered all the time, making this type of software a life-saver. Leverage this functionality for your Android.

4. Download an Anti-Virus Application

It’s a myth that mobile devices are immune to malware. The truth is, since Android dominates on the mobile device market, there is an increasingly large number of viruses and other malicious software being released into the wild to attack Android users. The most popular solution to this end is the Avast Free Android anti-virus application available from Google’s own app store. It doesn’t take long to download and can potentially save you a headache.

Bottom Line

These tips are just a few of the things you can do to maintain your Android device. The flexibility of this operating system is incredible. There are plenty of different tweaks and modifications you can implement to maximize its efficiency and curb lag and sluggishness. All you need is a little bit of time and slightly more effort to understand how to implement them and you can quickly benefit from a more responsive, faster Android device.
