Xiaomi to start selling Mipad tablet in China from July 1 onwards1 min read

Xiaomi Malaysia is looking forward to make an important announcement today on its Facebook page. Many Xiaomi fans can probably guess what Xiaomi is going to announce later. We can 99% confirm that Xiaomi Malaysia will reveal the pricing and availability of their upcoming mobile devices – the Redmi 1S and Redmi Note (Enhanced version).

While waiting for the announcement, let’s take a look at Xiaomi’s first tablet – the Mipad. First announced in May, the Android tablet is set to go on sale in China this coming July 1.

Xiaomi Mipad

Hardware-wise, the Xiaomi Mipad sports a 7.9-inch IPS screen display with 2,028 x 1,536 resolution and a ppi of 326. It is powered by NVIDIA quad-core ARM Cortex-A15 processor which boasts of 192-core graphics. The tablet has 2GB of RAM and on-board storage size of 16GB. You can insert microSD for additional storage up to 128GB.

Other features include an 8MP rear camera, a front-facing 5MP camera, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 and a generous 6,700 mAh battery. Mipad runs Android with MIUI overlay.

As for the pricing, the tablet retails at 1499 yuan in China, which is about $240 or RM 775.

P.S. : Hmm… when will Mipad hits Malaysia? Or will it ever come here?
