[UPDATE 25/4/2013 10.25 AM] Just found out that the Surface RT pricing has been uploaded online at Microsoft Malaysia’s official website. The tablet starts at RM 1549 for 32GB model, RM 1849 for 64GB. Touch cover costs another RM 300, if you bundled it together Surface RT.
Microsoft Malaysia is set to launch its ARM-based Windows RT tablet – the Surface RT – today, April 25 at 7.30 pm @ Publika Solaris Dutamas, Kuala Lumpur. It’s a public launch, so everyone can attend the event and the first 300 customers to purchase the Surface RT will receive giveaways worth RM300.
Exact pricing of Surface RT will be revealed during the event. We expect the Surface RT to carry the similar price tag as its U.S. counterpart. The tablet starts at USD 499 (RM 1513) for 32GB model and USD 599 (RM 1817) for 64GB. Anyhow, we are skeptical on how “well” the tablet will sell in Malaysia.
On other news, Microsoft has announced their latest move on expanding the availability of both the Surface RT and Surface Pro.
Surface RT will launch in Malaysia on April 25th, in Mexico by the end of May and in Korea and Thailand in June. This expansion will result in Surface RT being available in 29 markets. For those that are counting, it’s already available in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Surface Pro will launch before the end of May in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. Surface Pro will launch in Korea, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore, and Thailand before the end of June. Surface Pro is currently available in the U.S., Canada, and China.
So, the Surface Pro is coming soon to Malaysia after all. The Redmond based company is expected to bring the Windows 8-based tablet to local market before the end of June. Surface Pro starts at USD 899 for 64GB model and USD 999 for 128GB model. Both pricings do not include cover.
