We are just one week before the release of Apple’s tablet computer, iPad, which is set to start the iPad delivery on April 3.

Two weeks back on March 12, Apple has started taking pre-orders for iPad. Now, after two weeks taking online orders, Apple is estimated to have taken pre-orders of 240,000 iPads for delivery. However this figure does not include iPads reserved for pick-up at Apple Stores nor does it include bulk orders by schools and businesses.

Here is the summary for the first two weeks pre-orders :

  • 120,000 units on first day
  • 70,000 units (6 days at 12,000 units/day) over the first week, excluding Day 1
  • 50,000 units (7 days at 7,000 units/day) over second week

The iPads pre-order figure is tracked by Daniel Tello. According to Tello, he has predicted that the pre-order numbers will reach about 280k units by April 3.
